Information

The 5th International Ascona Workshop on “Cardiomyocyte Cell Biology” will be organized, as the first four conferences, at the Centro Stefano Franscini on Monte Verità above Ascona, Southern Switzerland. The major sponsors are the Centro Stefano Franscini (CSF) of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), the Working Group on “Cellular Biology of the Heart” of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and the.SCARTNet (Swiss Cardiovascular Research & Teaching Network) supported by SUS (Swiss University Conference). The number of participants will be limited to about 100. In addition to the 24 already invited speakers, 12 speakers will be selected on the basis of the submitted abstracts. Every participant has the option to present data in the form of posters and we will arrange for guided poster presentations on each day. Contributions from junior scientists are encouraged and a limited number of fellowships for junior contributors can be granted (grant application deadline: Dec 31st, 2005). It will not be possible to accommodate accompanying persons at the conference site, but there are nearby hotels where space has been reserved. If too many applications are received those submitted with abstracts will be preferred. The secluded location and the excellent facilities will promote formal presentations during sessions and informal discussions and exchange of ideas among junior and senior scientists in the field of cellular and molecular cardiology. The goal of the meeting is to promote exchange of ideas and recent results of scientists working on cardiomyocyte cell biology in basic and clinical cardiology research. In order to create a most rewarding atmosphere all participants are expected to remain present during the three days of the workshop (from April 2nd arrival to April 6th, departure).
